Taylor Swift Dishes On Her Sisterhood Of Friends, Calls Gal Pals More Important Than Romance

Taylor Swift loves her friends. In an interview for the October issue of Canada's Fashion, the "Shake It Off" singer revealed that her sisterhood of close gal pals is far more precious to her than her love life.

"When I was younger, I was just fascinated by romance and now the most important thing to me is the opinions of [my] sisterhood of friends," said Swift.

The pop star has a vast array of seemingly close celebrity friends, including Lena Dunham, Karli Kloss, and Selena Gomez. However, Swift claims that she doesn't adhere to the stereotypical superstar lifestyle.

"Celebrities surround themselves with people who don't know what they want and only have you to validate their lives-that's not interesting to me," she told Fashion, which was reported on by E! News.

In fact, Swift revealed that she feels empowered by her successful friends.

"You should not be threatened by women who are pretty and charismatic and good at what they do," said Swift. "My girlfriends have shaped me more in the past year and a half than any other factor."

The singer, who covers the October issue of the magazine, may be one of the most successful ladies in the music industry today but still admitted that she doesn't feel like part of a "cool" clique. But that's fine with her.

"I've never had more friends who I trust and can rely on, but there's always a bit of your self-perception that's frozen in junior high, when you trained yourself to not feel cool. You'll never really feel like you're part of the 'in' crowd, but growing up means that matters to you less and less every day," explained Swift.

The "Red" crooner's next album, "1989" will be released on Oct. 13.
