Real Housewives Of New Jersey Couple Indicted On 39 Counts Of Fraud: Joe Giudice Sentenced To Over 3 Years In Prison, Wife Teresa Giudice Will Serve 15 Months [PHOTO]

This past Thursday, Joe and Teresa Giudice of "The Real Housewives of New Jersey" were given prison sentences for 41 counts of fraud and tax charges. US Magazine reports that Joe will be serving three and a half years in prison, while Teresa will only be serving 15 months. U.S. attorney Paul J. Fishman first indicted the couple in July 2013 for 39 counts of fraud, but added on an additional two counts that November.

According to E Online, Joe and Teresa appeared before U.S. District Court Judge Esther Salas on Thursday morning at 10 AM. Salas began by telling the court that there were "glaring omissions" from the Giudices financial disclosure forms, including cars, construction equipment, home furnishings, insurance policies and other items. She added that the Giudices were supposed to file the forms in March but did not do so until August.

Furthermore, the federal prosecutor argued that the nondisclosure and discrepancies made by the couple were intentional, and part of "a pattern of deception, dishonesty, and concealment." According to US Magazine, this news is true - the Giudices lied about a lot of things, including claiming to have jobs they didn't actually hold, assets received from their reality show, and filing tax returns.

Judge Salas reportedly told the couple, "Everyone indulges but there has to be discipline...you need to teach your daughters discipline. If you don't have it, don't spend it. It bothers me that you haven't yet paid your taxes either and that I haven't gotten a straight answer of whether you filed or not. I don't sleep the night before a sentence, no matter who it is even if you're the stars of the Real Housewives."

Salas also told Joe, "What you did in this case doesn't define you as a man," offering words of wisdom for the shaken star. Joe answered, "I stand here humiliated before the court and my family and society...I disgraced many people including my wife and four daughters. I take full responsibility for my actions. I have grown and learned a lot about myself in the last few months, and I promise to be a better person in the future. I will be a better husband and a better father."
