Weekend’s Box Office Sees A Race Between ‘Gone Girl’ And ‘Annabelle’

This weekend's box-office result is expected to be a tight race between two new releases, Ben Affleck's 'Gone Girl' and the 'Annabelle' a horror film, the Wrap reported.

The article stated that 'Gone Girl' is estimated to earn over $30 Million during the weekend and 'Annabelle' with $25 Million.

'Gone Girl"' film is based on the novel of Gillian Flynn, about a man who was suspected of murdering his wife who have gone missing, Annabelle meanwhile is a follow up of the horror film 'The Conjuring.'

Forbes meanwhile reported that Friday's result showed 'Annabelle ' with a $15.5 million gross while 'Gone Girl' with $13.2 Million.

'Annabelle' is about a possessed doll and a spinoff from the movie 'The Conjuring' which was released July of last year.

Media reports also praised 'Gone Girl' not only for the actors' performances but also for the box office result. The movie also starts Rosamund Pike.

Another new release this week, Nicholas Cage's 'Left Behind' did not do well both with the moviegoers and critics. It earned only $2.36 Million on Friday.

With this, The Wrap also reported that the month of September proved to be a low -earning month for movie studios.

It stated that earnings last month were $513 Million, a low turnout in six years.

This weekend's box office is topped by Denzel Washington's movie, 'The Equalizer,' which is raking in Sony Pictures $36 million, Deadline.com reported.

The Equalizer, which debuted this week, is this weekend's top grossing film and is expected to earn more cinemagoers to see the film.

This Friday, Denzel Washington's 'The Equalizer,' has earned $51.1 Million.

Denzel plays a former operative who now lives a quiet life until he helped a young girl, which makes him have to deal with Russia mobsters. It is based on the 1980's television series with the same name.

'Maze Runner' now has $65.4 million in its third week.

Maze Runner,' is an adaptation of James Dashner novel set on a maze and are running away from monsters, its pull was 'Teen Wolf' Dylan O' Brien.
