Will Doctor Who Season 8 Episode 8 Introduce Frank Skinner As One-Off Companion After Clara's Fight With The Doctor?

The most recent episode of "Doctor Who" has fans reeling from the friction between Clara and the Doctor, with Clara swearing off ever traveling with him again. Which begs, the question, what will the next episode entail?

After the airing of "Kill the Moon," a teaser for the next episode of "Doctor Who" season 8 has been unveiled online, titled "Mummy on the Orient Express."

"The Doctor is on the most beautiful train in history, speeding among the stars of the future," says the official episode description.

"But a deadly creature is stalking the passengers. Once you see the horrifying Mummy you only have 66 seconds to live. No exceptions, no reprieve. As the Doctor races against the clock he’s seen at his deadliest and most ruthless. Will he work out how to defeat the Mummy? Start the clock!"

For this episode, it appears Clara will not be the Doctor's companion, and many are theorizing that comedian Frank Skinner will guest star as a one-off companion for Peter Capaldi's character.

"It's no secret that Frank's been pitching vigorously to get into Doctor Who for a while," said showrunner Steven Moffat.

"He's been volunteering to be 'third monster on the left' as long as I've been in this job. But now, in Jamie Mathieson's sparkling script, we finally have a part that can showcase all of Frank's famous wit and charm. Hopefully he'll get out of my garden now."

To many fans, the most recent turn of events on "Doctor Who" seem to foreshadow Jenna Coleman's rumored departure during the Christmas Special.

“Well, we do see her beginning to fall for Danny,” said Jenna Coleman to Radio Times. “The series shows her trying to balance this double life and trying to travel with the Doctor while also being a completely normal human being at home. We see the control freak in Clara."

"She says she’ll travel with the Doctor but only if he drops her off back in the same stationery cupboard exactly to the minute that she left so she isn’t missing any of her own life. It all becomes rather chaotic, as you can imagine, and that doesn’t work at all – it becomes quite impossible.”

“There’s lots of rumors. We’ve sat down with Steven Moffat and we’ve all decided we don’t want anybody to know which way it’s going. If you know I’m in the next series – or if you know I’m off – you’ll know how the story ends.”
