Boy Band GOT7 ‘Aspires To Become Like Veteran K-Pop Group’ Shinhwa

Hip-hop group GOT7 have been on a positive road since debuting earlier this year.

GOT7 is one step closer to becoming like K-pop group Shinhwa as their "Thailand Special Set" album came in at No. 1 on the Weekly Entertainment Chart of one of Thailand's biggest record label B2S, according to the Korean publication Naver.

Although member JB of the idol group stated they "aspire to become like the veteran K-pop group," he stated during an interview with The Korea Times that "we still have a long way to go. In our view, we're just beginning."

GOT7 is on its way to becoming known across Asia like Shinhwa as they successfully made their debut in Thailand with "Thailand Special Set," according to the Korea Herald.

The members of GOT7 were reportedly greeted by thousands of fans during their three-day promotional event in Thailand as well.

GOT7's "Thailand Special Set" album is compilation album of the K-pop group's tracks from their first album "Got It?" and their second mini-album "Got Love," according to Allkpop. All 900 pre-released copies of the group's album were sold out the day of its release while 5,000 copies of the special version of the album were pre-ordered.

GOT7 will be releasing its Japanese debut single "Around the World" on October 22.

The boys of the idol group have evolved since making their debut with "Girls, Girls, Girls" in January of this year, reportedly going from a hip-hop oriented group to a much "sweeter image" with their recent hit "A." Although their ultimate goal is to be like Shinhwa, GOT7 has already gotten comparisons to boy group 2PM for their "martial arts-inspired" choreography.

"You might see less of the powerful martial arts kicking with 'A,' but you can still see similar technical elements as the 'one-kick' in our new song," explained the group's leader JB.

The members of GOT7 have also progressed with their music as they've been getting tips from the CEO of the JYP Entertainment, Park Jin-young

"I was recording once, and producer Park told me that I lacked feeling, so I started singing with feeling. Then he told me that the feeling got in the way of the singing. He's really passionate when recording and I think his take on the song 'A' and the stage concept has worked out well," explained JB.
