Ashley Wagner Displays Olympic Face After Faltering At 2014 Japan Open [VIDEO]

A new figure skating season has begun and after making a memorable appearance at the 2014 Olympics, Ashley Wagner has returned with a less-than-desired performance.

Over the weekend, Ashley Wagner appeared at the 2014 Japan Open, where she debuted her new long program to the Moulin Rouge soundtrack. Sadly, after falling and making shaky landing with jumps, the 23-year-old former U.S. champion only scored a 100.99, finishing last out of the six ladies competing.

"I just don't see where the technical content is and I think it's going to be a big issue," said Dave Lease of The Skating Lesson during their recap of the event. "We saw Ashley get five underrotations here and it looked like some of them were nerves."

"I'm confused about why she's continuing, especially when it doesn't seem like she's necessarily trying to improve."

After receiving a disappointing score, Ashley Wagner reminded the public how she made her impression at the 2014 Olympics despite finishing seventh in the ladies event by making another classic expression at the score. After receiving her score, Wagner also walked out of the kiss n' cry area.

"Getting her score, stomping and leaving the kiss n' cry, how rude of her," commented fashionfgurl18 on YouTube.

Nevertheless, Ashley Wagner took to Twitter and was a good sport about her own lackluster performance.

"Looking at my score sheet, I'm a bit impressed with myself and the amount of downgrades I received," tweeted Wagner. "I really outdid myself."

With a new mission to make the 2018 Winter Olympics, Wagner may need more training and committed performances in order to beat the younger generation of figure skaters.

"I think Pyeongchang is totally doable. I'm not old. I'm experienced," said Wagner according to Ice Network.

"I can still go and fight and show those babies I can still show them a thing or two. I'm not a pretty princess skater. People want to watch a woman on the ice, someone who is mature and confident."
