K-Pop Mixtape: The Best Of Korean Electro

South Korean Electronic music isn't as easily heard as mainstream K-pop, but these are some artists that specialize in giving you that electric shock when it comes to techno!

IDIOTAPE

Being one of leading strictly electronic artists, IDIOTAPE has raised the bar for this particular sound in the Korea music industry. IDIOTAPE is one of the few Korean artists that can boast bringing the club down during world famous music festival South by Southwest 2014 in Austin, Texas. This electronic trio is definitely not be taken lightly.

BeatBurger

The resident group of S.M. Entertainment choreographers and dancers also have stepped foot into the world of electronic music. Earlier this year, the group released the music video for "She So High" featuring fellow labelmate, TVXQ's Changmin and actress Gu Hye Sun. It looks like not only can Beatburger bring the dance moves, but also the music to go with it!

Hitchhiker

Hitchhiker has been know to work behind the scenes for various works and productions for major Korean artists including the Brown Eyed Girls, EXO, and Girls Generation to name just a few of the many acts. Hitchhiker made their official debut earlier this year with the bizarre yet addicting electro track, "11(ELEVEN)". The song featured a nonstop baby voice making strange "abababa" sounds and unusual animation. Despite the peculiarity of the video, the song garnered not only domestic attention in Korea but also some International attention from fans all of the internet.

 Clazziquai Project

The trio that makes up Clazziquai Project offers quite a variety of moods to their overall electronic feel. Clazziquai Project has mastered not only the electronic and electropop genres, but also trance, house, and groove. Clazziquai Project pairs their sound with the addicting vocals of both Alex Chu and Horan and the creative production of DJ Clazzi. Occasionally, Clazziquai Project with collaborate with other artists as well including Tablo of Epik High and Japanese duo, m-flo. In more recent news, Clazziquai Project release their 6th Studio Album 'Blink' back in September has since gain more success added to their career.

Aside from Korean groups and solo artists that specialize in Electronic music, there are influences from the genre that are used in popular idol songs as well. T-ARA is an avid user of electronic beats and synthesizers in their style of music; most notably for tracks such as "Number 9" and "Sugar Free".


GD and Taeyang also channeled their inner electro for their latest track, "Good Boy". Though the track overall is hip-hop style, there are electro elements incorporated.
