‘X-Men’ And ‘Watchmen’ Writer David Hayter Makes His Directorial Debut With ‘Wolves’ Movie, Film To Star ‘Game Of Thrones’ Khal Drogo Actor Jason Mamoa [VIDEO]

"Game of Thrones" fans who miss Khal Drogo actor Jason Mamoa will get to see him in a new fantasy film soon. Given that it's the directorial debut of David Hayter, there's a good chance fans are in for some excitement.

David Hayter, writer on both "X-Men" and "The Watchmen" recently spoke to Nerd Reactor about his upcoming directorial debut, "Wolves."

"I got to spend about six years, so far but you know, that's about average for a feature film. Nearly everything I've worked on takes between five and ten years to get going unless it's something like 'X-Men 2' which everybody knows it's going to be a hit, so they just jump right into production," he said.

"Wolves" which is described by Bloody Disgusting as the story of one teen's discovery of his ancient beastly ancestry after realizing the "nightmares that he's changing into something vicious, unpredictable and wild, are real." The teen in question, named Cayden Richards, eventually finds the answers he's looking for in a remote mountain town and falls in love with a beautiful girl named Angelina. The only problem is that she's at the center of a conflict between two ancient clans of "wolves."

As with most permutations of the werewolf story, one can't help but make comparisons to other versions, including MTV's "Teen Wolf." Hayter commented on this in the interview with Nerd Reactor, stating, "I fear nothing. No, I mean tried to infuse this with my own voice, and my own take on the genre. From that perspective I think it'll be fairly unique."

With how successful Hayter's other works have been, one could suspect that people should believe him. "Wolves" will be released on VOD starting October 16th and opens in theaters on November 14th.
