If you were in school during the 1990s, you must respond to this drama. If you were fans of the first generation of idol groups like H.O.T, even more so. tvN "Respond 1997" is based on a high school in the late 90s about crazed fangirls and their fresh and cute first loves, inciting the memories of the 20-30 aged demographic. Rare for a cable drama, the viewer ratings surpassed 2%.

The lead character is Sung Si Won who will stop at nothing to see Tony of H.O.T, acted by A Pink's Jung Eunji. For an idol group member, her acting is solid. This is an interview with her from Thursday.

- This is your first drama and your first lead but feedback is good. 

"I don't know what to do with myself! I was worried that people would think I was a bad actress but I'm glad me and Si Won have similar personalities. My mother told me that it was almost like watching me on a security camera."

- Your Busan accent is very accurate.

"I'm originally from Busan. I came to Seoul last year and wondered if I would really have to use the average accent. Because I used the accent, I wasn't able to act and when other members were meeting for dramas, I stayed in the car. I was only able to get this opportunity because of my accent."

Si Won is a typical high school girl. She sends in letters to radio shows about how her friend was burned, making up lies to win 300 dollar jeans. She cries when her H.O.T rain jumper rips.

- Were you ever a fan of celebrities?

"I was never crazy about idols. So I tried to picture our own fans. I studied what their faces looked like if they really liked something and that's how I created my character."

- You must have been a kindergartener in 1997.

"But I still remember everything. I remember stores being covered with H.O.T posters and paraphernalia. My father used a beeper for a very long time so beepers were not foreign to me either. It's only based in the 90's but I try to be a high school girl who can be seen today."

- Si Won in 2012 is a 33 year old TV writer. How do you follow those emotions?

"I always loved talking to my mom and her friends. I've been told that I'm an old soul a lot as well. When I become Si Won, I make sure every expression is written on my face. But as you get older, your expressions become fewer and more simple. So when I'm 33, I limit my facial expressions."

Jung Eunji debuted as a member of A Pink last year. She was a high school student who didn't go through the hard and arduous process of being a practice singer at the management company so she's still very realistic in her portrayal.
