As SM Entertainment deals with its most recent controversy regarding EXO's Luhan, the record label's latest statement may be foreshadowing more scandals to come.

On Friday, SM Entertainment released its official statement regarding Luhan's alleged lawsuit against the label, stating that both Luhan and Kris Wu's lawsuits could indicate "there is someone behind the scenes who is pulling the strings."

"We are shocked because the lawsuit was suddenly filed while we were in the process of negotiating his future schedules and activities after he expressed his wishes to focus more on his individual activities in China more so than EXO group activities as well as matters concerning his health," said the statement according to Soompi.

"As it was with Kris's case, when a lawsuit is filed for no actual reason by using the same pattern and lawyers after a gaining a lot of popularity as a star through group activities, we see this as a suit that was filed because of one prioritizing one's self and ignoring the understanding of the contract with the agency as well as everyone involved in the contract and the activities with the group."

SM's statement hinting at a move against the company could add to the growing rumor that the remaining Chinese members of EXO would follow Kris and Luhan's footsteps, sign with a Chinese entertainment agency and form a new boy group in their home country.

According to allkpop, an inside source believes that EXO-M members Huang Zitao (Tao) and Zhang Yixing (Lay) could sign with Chinese agency Hwai Brothers should they separate from SM. Given that reports indicate Hwai Brothers may be close to signing Kris, the source alleges the agency is attempting to grab Chinese artists under SM to launch a new group in China.

Right after reports confirmed Luhan's filing of a lawsuit against SM, Lay took to Instagram to reach out to EXO fans around the world.

"Everyone, you must be having a hard time," posted Lay. "Please be healthy, make sure to eat and gain strength! I feel that more than anyone else, our fans are going through the most. Be strong!"
