Woohee Of Dal Shabet Hospitalized For Collapsed Lung: Group's Label Says Surgery May Be Needed

Bae Woohee of the six-member South Korean girl group Dal Shabet has been admitted to a hospital to receive treatment for a pneumothorax (also called a collapsed lung), according to a statement reportedly released Friday by the group's record label Happy Face Entertainment.

"Woohee was hospitalized on the [Wednesday] due to a collapsed lung," the statement read, according to a report on the website allkpop.

"We're monitoring her condition following a few days of hospital treatment. It hasn't been decided whether she'll be receiving surgery. She's doing her best to take care of her body."

The 22-year-old singer is the newest addition to Dal Shabet, replacing founding member Kang Eun Hye, known to fans as Viki, back in 2012, roughly four months after the group debuted.

Woohee is not the only member of the group to have been hospitalized this year.

Back in May, singer Cho Subin was involved in a car accident in which her van was allegedly totaled. Local authorities ruled the cause to be driver negligence, according to the South Korean publication MyDaily.

Yet despite the hardship they have faced in 2014, Dal Shabet appears poised for a comeback. Two weeks ago, Happy Face announced the group was currently working on a new album, due out in January.

Back in June, Woohee took to the microblogging website Twitter to express her appreciation to the fans showing her love for her two year anniversary as a member of Dal Shabet.

"I am really happy from the bottom of my heart," she wrote in Korean. "For everyone who has been happy alongside me for two years, I love you."
