On October 13, Mnet revealed the top twenty results for the upcoming 2014 Style Icon Award. As of print, actor Kim Soo Hyun leads the nominees with 6.1 percent of the vote, making his description on site as the “star who leads Asia” more than appropriate. Big Bang's G-Dragon, who was the recipient of the 2013 Style Icon Award, follows behind Kim Soo Hyun with 3.7 percent of the vote.
Kim Soo Hyun witnessed an explosion in popularity throughout Asia, following the success of the fantasy time-slip K-Drama “My Love From The Stars.” Prior to “My Love From The Stars” the actor had steadily built his fan base, following starring roles in the popular 2011 musical drama “Dream High,” followed by the 2013 hit film “Secretly, Greatly.”
G-Dragon has established himself as a cultural and style icon. G-Dragon has received international press attention during his appearances at Paris Fashion Week, leading the Big Bang leader to become a regular guest at Chanel events.
Eight of the top twenty nominees follow with 3 percent of the popular vote. Musical artists within the top ten include SISTAR's Soyou, CL of 2NE1, Girl's Day, and Antennae Music's Yoo Hee Yeol. Seo In Guk who has effectively transitioned from a solo vocalist to actor leads the K-Drama stars in the top ten, followed by Kim Sung Ryong, Jung Ryeo Won, and “Discovery of Romance” actress Jung Yoo Mi.
International fans can easily vote for the 2014 Style Icon Awards using their Facebook or Twitter account on the Style Icon Awards website, with no Korean ID necessary.
Voting for the 2014 Style Icon Awards remains open until October 20, with the award program airing on October 28.
