Criticism Continues To Surround Shinhwa Member Andy As Fans Say ‘Leave Him Alone’

After a year away from the spotlight due to his illegal gambling scandal last November, Shinhwa member Andy will be reuniting with his fellow idol group members for their comeback.

Despite the criticism surrounding the gambling controversy that has continued to plague the idol member's career, his fans have remained supportive.

In February of this year, nearly three months after the scandal went public, Andy, along with a list of other celebrities involved in the incident, were banned from the Korean network MBC, according to the media outlet MWave. A committee meeting was reportedly held to keep Andy from making appearances on MBC and another meeting would have to take place in the event the singer is allowed to return to appearing on shows on the network.

Criticism towards Andy's past actions remained throughout the summer of this year when the music producer showed up at a fan meeting held in China with the other Shinhwa members, according to Soompi. The controversy surrounding his appearance at the meeting that was held in May was met with disapproval from his fans.

"I don't understand how this is supposed to bring controversy. He's doing something for his fans. Leave him alone," wrote Facebook user Honor Burrows.

Another user Lee Yoon-hee commented, "The time for self-reflection is from the gambling incident? And I guess this one is just a misunderstanding. Hopefully he can stay out of controversy after this."

Fans are now happily waiting to watch Andy perform as a member of Shinhwa now that it has been announced that he'll be participating in the upcoming promotions for the K-pop group.

"Welcome back Andy. We missed you so much," wrote social media user chubby green.

Andy will be performing with Eric, Lee Min-woo, Kim Dong-wan, Shin Hye-sung and Jun Jin on the SBS music program "Inkigayo" on November 8, according to the Korean publication Osen Entertainment. He will also reportedly be involved in the group's official comeback performances that will begin on January 2015.

Andy's absence from the group had caused a bit confusion for the five other Shinhwa members as well.

"We are slowly preparing for our Shinhwa concert. To be honest, because of Andy's situation, we felt like we were avoiding celebrating our 16th anniversary, so we thought that we must definitely [hold the concert," explained member Min-woo during an interview with the media outlet MyDaily in February 2014, according to Allkpop.

He added,"Honestly, the biggest concern at the moment is how to fill in for Andy's part and the spot that Andy leaves empty."
