Pangyo Techno Valley Concert Organizer Allegeldy Found Dead Of Apparent Suicide Following The Deaths Of 16 Fans During 4Minute Performance

An official involved in the planning of the Pangyo Techno Valley Festival has been found dead, according to news reports from Korea.

On Saturday, the publication E-Daily reported that at approximately 7:15 a.m. Korean Standard Time, a pedestrian notified police of a dead body found next to the Bundang Techno Valley Building.

The deceased has been identified as Mr. Oh, a man who helped organize the Pangyo Techno Valley Festival where, just the day before, 16 fans died after falling through a ventilation grate during a performance by K-Pop girl group 4Minute.

Officials reportedly believe he committed suicide by jumping from the Bundang building's 10th floor rooftop following an almost hour and a half-long interrogation from police regarding the fatal concert accident. The building is in the vicinity of the outdoor performance space.

Mr. Oh was employed by the event sponsor, the Gyeonggi Institute of Science and Technology Office of Promotions, and helped organize the October 17 music festival that also featured performances from T-ara, Junggigo, and Cherry Filter.

Just before 6 p.m. on Friday, 27 fans, most of whom were young students, fell down a 10-meter shaft to an underground parking structure after they reportedly climbed on top of a ventilation window to get a better view of the stage.

There were approximately 700 people gathered for the event.

The members of 4Minute, who were on stage at the time of the accident, were not aware of the incident until after the event ended and they were on their way back to Seoul.
