Nokia Lumia 520 vs. HTC Desire 300: Specs of the WP8-powered Nokia Lumia 520 is pitted with the Android-running HTC Desire 300. Both these handsets are budget friendly but sport premium design and great specs.

Design & Display
When it comes to the design, the HTC Desire 300 is just a tad bit larger than the Nokia Lumia 520. It comes in the dimension of 131.8 by 66.2 by 10.1 mm while the Nokia has 119 by 64 by 9.9. of the two devices, the Nokia Lumia is the heavier one with a total weight of 124 grams which is 4 more grams than the Desire.

The advantage of the larger dimensions on the Desire 300 comes with the obvious benefit of a larger screen. It has a 4.3-inch TFT display with a resolution of 480 by 800 pixels. The Lumia screen is 0.3 inches less and uses IPS for its LCD touch screen. It also has a screen resolution of 480 by 800 pixels.

Hardware and OS
Although both of these devices have a 1 GHz dual core processor from the same manufacturer Qualcomm, they run on different chipsets. The Desire 300 has an MSM8225 Snapdragon S4 Play chipset while the Lumia 520 has an MSM8227 chipset.

When it comes to the storage, the Lumia 520 has an inbuilt 8 GB memory that you can add on up to 64 GB via the Micro SD card slot. The Desire comes with 4GB less of inbuilt memory but also has expansion capabilities via microSD card to 32 GB. They each have 512MB RAM.

As is known with Nokia, the Lumia 520 has the Windows Phone 8 OS from Microsoft. Users have the option of upgrading this to the WP8 Black. The HTC Desire on the other hand comes with Android Jelly Bean.

Camera
Both devices have cameras with the same number of Megapixels. Each of them has a primary camera of 5MP. Unlike the Nokia Lumia 520 that only has one camera; the HTC Desire 300 also has a secondary camera which is a VGA camera.

Battery Life
The HTC Desire has a Li-Ion 1650 mAh battery, which is more than the Li-Ion 1430 mAh on the Lumia 520. Desire 300 users will be able to talk 11 hours on their phone using a 3G network while the Lumia 520 will give 2 hours less on the same network.
