Ashton Irwin, the possibly the most loved out of the four 5 Seconds of Summer band members, got appendicitis and had to be rushed to the hospital. The good news is that he feels much better already (yay!) and that he has been giving regular updates on his Twitter account.

Because 5 Seconds of Summer had to cancel shows in Australia (their home country!), Ashton Irwin left a public tweet to let all his fans know that he is sorry about this unexpected turn of events.

This tweet, of course, was followed by a deluge of “Get Well” messages and many heart emoticons. But it wasn’t just Ashton Irwin’s thoughtfulness that won 5SOS fans’ hearts. He began giving regular news updates on his Twitter to his fans’ delight. Here are five funny and profound things Ashton Irwin said after his appendicitis! 1. “Watching men in tights, fight other men in tights,I am currently wearing more clothes than all these men collectively.” When 5 Seconds of Summer drummer came back home to rest, he found the perfect thing to do - watch wrestling! Which we all know is just a coverup to watch “men in tights fight other men in tights”. Nothing like some manly love to get the appendix healed! 2. “Just went for a drive, listened to some music, you can see the stars where we live, forgot how much I miss them.” Having felt intense pain during his appendicitis, Ashton Irwin seemed to have gotten a new perspective on life. The brief stint at the hospital has turned the 5SOS drummer into a philosopher! 3. You know when ya think you have a normal belly button... And then you have surgery and you're belly button is now butt ugly.” Okay, he made a grammatical error here, but the humor still remains intact (unlike his belly button). Ashton’s belly button may be unsightly right now, but good thing that the procedure didn’t change his looks or his floppy hairstyle! 4.

It also looks like the anesthesia hasn’t quite worn off yet. Normal tasks like making toast seems like a great endeavor for the ‘Amnesia’ drummer. Somebody help the poor boy!

But most of all, it looks like Ashton Irwin actually has fond memories of the hospital he was in! He posted a Throwback Sunday picture on his Twitter and the tiny TV. Blessing comes in many different forms!
