NBA Trade Rumors : Chase Budinger To Portland Trail Blazers? Minnesota Timberwolves Shopping Three Point Specialist! Northwest Division Rival Blazers Are Interested

The NBA Trade Rumors have a new candidate and it's Chase Budinger from the Minnesota Timberwolves. After the Kevin Love trade, he might be the next veteran on the way out.

The addition of Andrew Wiggins and Anthony Bennett, even Thaddeus Young just made the small forward rotation very tight for the T-Wolves. They still have Kevin Martin as their resident shooter so Budinger becomes expendable. But since Flip Saunders has improved trade savvy, he is now asking for more.

The Portland Trail Blazers are one team that's interested in Budinger. They still need an extra wing scorer off the bench as Bleacher Report says:

"Now head coach Terry Stotts' depth hinges on the development of untested prospects such as C.J. McCollum, Meyers Leonard, Thomas Robinson and Will Barton. Steve Blake and Dorell Wright will offset that inexperience to some degree, but this is still a pretty thin set of reserves.

Budinger could help change that, teaming with Wright to handle minutes behind starting small forward Nicolas Batum."

That's a good point but who will the Blazers be willing to send in return? Blazer's Edge makes an analysis that it might be Thomas Robinson, although they are not really shopping him. He's the likely candidate:

"It's an interesting proposal. After an up-and-down season last year Robinson has fallen out of Portland's pre-season rotation (for whatever that means, which may not be much.) Without a face-up shot to speak of, Robinson is an odd fit at the 4 despite overwhelming athleticism, unlimited rebounding potential, and the occasional highlight reel play.

Budinger was injured soon after being traded to the Minnesota Timberwolves in 2012. He played 23 games in 2012-13, 41 games last season. His shooting stroke has yet to re-emerge. He doesn't have the game-changing potential that Robinson does but he does fit Portland's job description for a reserve small forward. If he can shoot at all, chances are his percentage from distance will recover in Terry Stotts' system."

Both sides can see the benefit but there will still be some posturing for other assets like draft picks. This is still a work in progress.
