Taylor Swift New Song `Welcome To New York’ Drops on iTunes Tomorrow; Taylor Swift Gives BFF Selena Gomez Music Advice

Taylor Swift says her new song, "Welcome To New York," will be available tomorrow, Oct. 21, exclusively on iTunes. The country superstar also took time out to give her best friend Selena Gomez a little relationship advice.

"Welcome to New York" is the third single Taylor Swift dropped from her upcoming "1989," which has been called the most highly anticipated album this year.

"I started the album with 'Welcome To New York' because New York has been an important landscape and location for the story of my life in the last couple of years," said Taylor. "It's like an electric city, and I approached moving there with such wide-eyed optimism. I saw New York as a place of endless potential and possibilities and you can hear that reflected in this music and in this song."

Taylor Swift is a seven-time Grammy Award winner. Billboard Magazine recently named Swift Woman of the Year, she is the only artist to win the honor twice. The country-star-turned-pop-star will exclusively unlock "Welcome To New York" on iTunes on Tuesday, October 21.

"Welcome To New York" was written by Taylor Swift and Ryan Tedder from One Republic. The song was produced by Ryan Tedder, Noel Zancanella and Taylor Swift. Welcome To New York is the third song from 1989, Taylor's forthcoming fifth studio album. Her last single, "Shake It Off," is still at number one.

Selena Gomez, no stranger to number one records, has taken relationship advice from her best friend.

On Friday, Selena appeared on The Talk to say Swift "was actually at my house the other day and we were sitting by the fire and I was talking about relationships and business in my life and she just kind of looked at me and was like, 'Selena, if you're the smartest person in the room, I think you're going to be in the wrong room.' She thinks I should constantly surround myself with people who are going to make me better, that are going to challenge and motive me."

Taylor Swift is the youngest recipient in history of the Grammy Award for Album of the Year. Swift is the best-selling digital music artist of all time. She is the only female artist in music history to twice have an album hit the 1 million first-week sales figure. Swift is the fourth artist ever to hit that mark.

Swift made her latest chart headlines when her newest single "Shake It Off," became her second Billboard Hot 100 No. 1, reigning for two weeks in September, following her first chart topper "We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together" in 2012.

Taylor Swift holds the all-time revenue record for a single tour by a country artist. She is the only female artist to collect five top 10 hit singles from each of her first two studio albums on Billboard's Hot Country Songs chart.

The singer holds the record, at 12, for the most debuts inside the top 10. No artist in the history of the Hot 100 has hit that. With 11 songs on the Nov. 13, 2010 Hot 100, she set the mark for the most titles charted simultaneously on the tally by a female artist.  Swift's latest album "1989" will be released on October 27, 2014.
