Samsung Donates 3,000 Galaxy Smartphones, Worth About USD 1 Million To Support The Ongoing Fight Against Ebola

The Samsung disclosed on October 21 that they are helping the United Nations to fight against Ebola.

On their website, Samsung announced that the company donates 3,000 smartphones to be used by the United Nations project to fight Ebola in three worst hit African countries which is Guinea, Liberia and Sierra Leone.

According to their website, the 3,000 smartphones, which are worth about USD 1 million will be donated through the United Nations Officer for the Coordination of Human Affairs or OCHA. It will be utilized in the Humanitarian Connectivity Project.

"The donated GALAXY S3 Neo smartphones will be used in 60 Ebola medical clinics in the three worst-hit African countries, Guinea, Liberia, and Sierra Leone."

Furthermore, the Samsung galaxy S3 Neo is one of the new flagship from 2012 which offer latest and great features.

The smartphones can be used by medical staff to collect medical data, treat patients and the quarantined patients can also contact their families using the said devices. Once the virus outbreak ended, all smartphones being used will be destroyed.

Moreover, aside from donating 3,000 smartphones, Samsung had various efforts to fight against Ebola, such as giving financial support for purchasing of hazmat suits in Ghana, hand sanitizers in the Democratic Republic of Congo and in South Africa the Ebola SMS text service.

Meanwhile, according to the report of the Daily Mail, there are 851 confirmed Ebola cases in the Western Area Urban and Western Area Rural Zones. In Sierra Leone, the eastern districts of Kailahun and Kenema have been a total of 1,012 confirmed cases.
