‘Hart Of Dixie’ Season 4 Renewed Or Cancelled? Is CW Show Taking A Break For Rachel Bilson’s Maternity Leave Or Saying Goodbye For Good?

What does the future hold for the CW's "Hart of Dixie"?

Well, while the series is taking a break after season 4 due to star Rachel Bilson's maternity leave, some other cast members have hinted that the series may be cancelled instead of renewed.

Bilson announced in May that she was expecting her first child with longtime love Hayden Christensen. However, the actress's happy news left many fans wondering if they would soon be saying goodbye to Dr. Zoe Hart and Bluebell soon.

"And that's a wrap on the #3Amigos. Love these dudes. Proud of these dudes. #TearsWereShed #RealMenCry #HartOfDixie," wrote Scott Porter on Instagram, alongside a pic with two of his co-stars.

As if that photo wasn't ominous enough for devotees of the CW series, Porter also posted a nostalgic snapshot of the town of fictional town of Bluebell where the show is set.

"And the sun sets on #BlueBell. Thanks for an amazing 4 years. #HartOfDixie," wrote the actor.

Wilson Bethel, another actor from the show, also tweeted a message that sounded suspiciously like a goodbye.

So, is that confirmation that "Hart of Dixie" has been cancelled? Not exactly.

According to a rep for CW, the renewal of the series remains up in the air.

"No decision has been made regarding the future of 'Hart Of Dixie,' so any discussion or reporting of whether or not the show will continue beyond the upcoming season is premature," the rep told TV.com.

As for Bilson, her good friend and co-star Jaime King reveals that the series opted for a shorter season 4, with only ten episodes, in order to accommodate the mom-to-be.

"We shot faster because of Rachel's pregnancy," King explained to Us Weekly. "We shot until the day before. And she's taking her full maternity. I took six weeks [off after I gave birth]."

King revealed that she feels protective over Bilson, particularly when it comes to becoming a working mother in the world of acting.

"For me, my number one thing was making sure she was protected," said King. "I was the first one that got pregnant [from the cast]. "They were supportive, but I could tell that in our industry, becoming pregnant is a nuisance."
