SM Music Ties 30 Different Nations Together

On Saturday, August 18, the "SMTOWN Live World Tour III in Seoul" kicked off at the Seoul Olympic Stadium. The world tour began back in May, earlier this year, in LA then moved on to Tokyo and Taipei. The SM artists returned to the heart of K-Pop to perform in front of 40,000 fans.

The timing of this year's "SMTOWN Live World Tour" has a special meaning. Although the world tour was previously held in 2008 and 2010, K-Pop has never been this hot internationally. The slogan for the "SMTOWN Live World Tour" is "A Global Music Festival to Unite the World with SM's Music."

The opening ceremony of the concert in Seoul was unlike any other concert opening ceremonies. In addition to countries in North America, Europe and Asia, K-Pop fans from Russia, Israel, Kazakhstan, Brunei and Myanmar attended the concert in Seoul to see the SM stars. A total of 30 different nations were represented. All 30 countries were represented by a total of 30 fans from each nation, who entered the gymnasium with TVXQ, Super Junior, EXO, Girls' Generation, f(x), BoA, Kangta and more. The opening ceremony for the "SMTOWN Live World Tour III in Seoul" resembled the opening ceremony of the Olympic Games.

The 5-hour-long concert became more and more exciting as time progressed. Girl group Chun Sang Ji Hee's Dana and Sunday performed the opening stage and all of the SM artists appeared on stage to sing along to legendary idol group H.O.T.'s "Hope", which wrapped up the concert.

A total of 51 songs were performed at the concert. The people from 30 different countries gathered together and it was as though a new nation was created. None of the fans favored any specific artist but celebrated and sang along to all songs performed by the SM artists.

Super Junior's Leeteuk stated, "Rainbows can only be seen after a pouring rain but I feel like there is a rainbow in front of my eyes right now. TVXQ's red, SHINee's aqua blue, it's so nice to see all the colors in the audience."

The collaboration performances created by various SM artists were something unique to "SMTOWN Live World Tour" and will not be performed anywhere else. Super Junior's Ryeowook and EXO-K's D.O. performed "Missing You" by Fly to the Sky and TVXQ's Changmin and Super Junior's Kyuhyun performed "Just the Way You Are" by Bruno Mars.

"SMTOWN Live World Tour 2012" will continue in Jakarta, Indonesia on September 22. So far, the SM artists performed in front of 12,000 fans in LA, 30,000 in Thailand, 10,000 in Japan and 40,000 in Seoul, Korea. The concert in Jakarta is expecting a total of 50,000 fans.
