K-Pop Crossover: CL Working With Diplo And Dok2 For U.S. Solo Debut?

CL will be making her US debut next year, but she won't be doing it alone.

After YG Entertainment confirmed CL's venture into the US market next Spring, many are wondering which producers will collaborate with the 2NE1 leader. Currently, two possibilities include American producer Diplo and Lee Joon Kyung (stage name Dok2).

"I'm very happy about advancing into America and think I'm going to work a lot with Diplo," said CL at the 2014 Style Icon Awards accompanied by Diplo. "Diplo is so cool and good-looking."

On October 28, CL and Diplo collaborated on a special performance at the Style Icon Awards, combining CL's solo single "MTBD" and "Revolution" off of Diplo's 2013 EP. The pair also recently collaborated on the track "Dirty Vibe" off of Skrillex's latest album.

"She's ready for US debut," commented legitkid143 on YouTube.

Another producer who might be helping CL with her solo US debut is Dok2.

Two days after sharing an Instagram photo with Diplo, CL uploaded a photo on her account featuring the South Korean hip-hop artist along with a hat showcasing Dok2's very own record label, Illionaire Records. As such, observers believe CL may be working with Dok2 for her upcoming debut as well.

CL will also be working with talent manager Scooter Braun for her US venture. Known for managing Justin Bieber, Psy, Ariana Grande and Carly Rae Jepsen, Braun teased their new partnership by mentioning CL on Twitter.

"Ready?" asked the 33-year-old talent manager at the 2NE1 leader. The simple tweet has since garnered over 3,000 retweets.

"The opportunity to break down barriers previously thought insurmountable, play with the big dogs, make a ton of money, become a truly global star and make history," commented jollyroger009 on allkpop.

"Yup, that could make one a bit excited."
