Coco Rocha Talks Kendall Jenner Bullying Scandal, Says Fashion World ‘Gets A Little Catty’

It's no secret that the world of fashion can be a little exclusive.

This was highlighted earlier this year when Kendall Jenner reportedly experienced bullying while modeling for the first time in New York Fashion Week. Now fashion star Coco Rocha is addressing the subject and has a few words of wisdom for 18-year-old Kendall.

"It is bad for the industry, and if that all did happen, that's really frustrating to hear," said 26-year-old Rocha in an interview with HuffPost Live, referring to the Jenner situation. "You have to remember that during the shows, it is all very young girls. It's like high school. We breathe and eat and sleep together for two months, so it gets to a point where you're just overwhelmed, frustrated and tired, and I've had my own stories where it gets a little catty backstage. And not everyone's going to get along. It makes sense. Not everyone's going to be your best friend."

According to E! News, a witness said that Jenner was picked on by several models, including one who allegedly put her cigarette in the teen's drink.

So what should Kendall, or anyone for that matter, do when they do encounter bullying?

"When that does happen, step back, breathe a minute, get out of the room, whatever you need to do. Because in the end, people are watching you under such a fine microscope," said the Canadian supermodel. "People are going to watch whatever you do, so if you want the job, if you want to be respected in the industry, remember that even though you're a young girl, you have to act a little older and a little wiser."

Coco, who started her professional modeling career ten years ago, knows a thing or two about staying confident and true to yourself in spite of pressures in the fashion world.

A self-proclaimed devout Jehovah's Witness, Rocha told HuffPost Live that she will not pose for some shoots if they contain images or ideas that conflict with her beliefs.

"I'm sure there are some jobs I'm not doing because of what I stand for, but that's totally okay," said Rocha.

"At the beginning of my career, I was nervous to talk," admitted the model, who recently revealed that she is expecting her first child with husband James Conran. "I was just a very young girl. You don't want to upset anyone or frustrate anyone -- you just want to work."

"I just say 'hey, I won't be wearing that, I won't be doing that,'" added Coco. "Most likely, people are just going to pay attention and go 'hey, no problem, it's okay,' which you're shocked to hear."
