Microsoft Office For Mac: Free Download & Free Trial? 2014 Update Release Date Rumors [NEWS]

Screenshot images of Microsoft Office for Mac have surfaced online, spurring rumors about the software's 2014 release date and the possibility of a free download and trial being leaked.

CnBeta, a Chinese website, leaked images of the software screenshot on Thursday. The site attributes the screenshots to an internal test version--they revealed a Yosemite interface for Outlook.

"The latest rumors point to a launch of the new version of Office for Mac at the beginning of 2015," MacWorld writes in a review of the leaked screenshot images.

"Rumors that Microsoft was planning a new version of it's Office software for Mac users have been ongoing throughout the past two years. Microsoft updated the Windows version back at the beginning of 2013, so Mac users have been wondering when Microsoft would update the Mac version ever since."

Rumors surrounding the possibility of a free download and trial have suggested another internal leak may make them available. However, no such links to free downloads have been published.

Overall, 2015 is slated as the release date year for Microsoft Office for Mac and an end-of-year release seems unlikely to most analysts.

Mac's release of OS X Yosemite is attributed as one of the likely reasons for its delay.
