Will Ferrell And Mark Wahlberg To Team Up Again For New ‘Daddy’s Home’ Movie, Can Fans Expect Same Success As ‘The Other Guys’?

Any fans who were hopeful that Will Ferrell and Mark Wahlberg would team up again after "The Other Guys" can rest easy knowing that the pair will finally reunite for a new movie. Today it was announced that "Daddy's Home" which stars the comedic pair as father and step-father, is now officially underway, but will it have the same success as their buddy cop satire?

Last year while promoting "Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues," Will Ferrell told The Guardian how he approaches most of his comedic roles.

"I know this will sound odd, but I've never really tried to please the audience. I just do things that I think are funny, or fun, and it's such a crapshoot if the audience thinks they're funny, too," said Ferrell.

Most of the time indeed they are funny and when you add in Mark Wahlberg, it is usually comedic gold. Deadline reports that after a few months of uncertainty who would star opposite Ferrell, Mark Wahlberg signed on for the opposite role in "Daddy's Home." It was originally going to be Vince Vaughn and Ferrell, but that version of the film fell apart some time last year.

With the addition of Mark Wahlberg to the project, The "Daddy's Home" movie also gained a financier through Red Granite Pictures alongside Paramount. With the addition of Red Granite, the film is now in pre-production, according to IMDB. That kind of timeline perhaps will push the film toward a 2015 release date.

Studios these days often weigh all their individual risks before betting on anything that's not a comic book superhero movie, but what are the odds that Will Ferrell and Mark Wahlberg can pull off another certified fresh movie on Rotten Tomatoes like they did with "The Other Guys?"

The chances seem to be high since both Ferrell and Wahlberg often draw in crowds of those looking for a good laugh, especially Ferrell who had a successful run in "The Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues." Mark Wahlberg should also be fresh to impress since his activities have recently been more geared toward action roles and behind-the-scenes producing. It's likely that both of the actors will bring their best comedic performances forward and find success, if only because there's little to no competition in the form of comedy films.

In any case, Will Ferrell and Mark Wahlberg are now officially locked to star opposite each other in "Daddy's Home."
