B.I's Father's Alleged Embezzlement Charges To Put iKON's Debut In Jeopardy?

Shortly after the confirmation of all the members for iKON, leading member Kim Han Bin (B.I) is under media scrutiny for less-then-desired reasons.

On October 28, former Sunghwa Pretech CEO Kim Jeong Joo was reportedly detained to stand trial for charges of embezzlement. Recently, it was revealed by the Korean news outlet Naver that the 42-year-old is, in fact, B.I's father.

According to MK News, Joo is facing charges along with an accomplice for deceiving investors with false company statements to raise 18.1 billion won (approximately $17 million) and embezzling 2.39 billion won (approximately $2.2 million) of company funds. Reportedly, the accomplice has gone missing and the police are tracing his whereabouts.

Due to B.I's connection to this scandal, many observers feel that iKON's planned debut should be postponed, or even worse, that B.I should drop out of the group.

"It's impossible to shield this," commented a Korean reader on Naver. "This just isn't right. How do you expect the victims to live and see B.I.'s face on TV?"

"If you have any brains at all, you wouldn't feel bad for B.I," said another observer according to translations by NetizenBuzz. "Who do you think paid for all the expensive snapbacks, clothes and shoes that he wore? There are over 300 victims in this scandal. Be honest with yourselves. You're not feeling sorry for him. You're scared you won't be able to see B.I. on TV anymore."

"In short, victims of the embezzlement aren't okay with B.I debuting because hey, guilty by association," wrote shitzfecd on reddit. "This may or may not affect iKON's debut of B.I's promotions for the time being."

On November 6, YG Entertainment revealed all seven members of iKON following the final voting round for the talent survival show "Mix & Match." This included B.I, Bobby, Kim Jinhwan, Koo Junhoe, Kim Donghyuk, Song Yunhyeong and Jung Chanwoo. Sadly, Jung Jinheyong and Yang Hongseok did not garner enough votes to join the group.

iKON is currently slated to debut in the Spring of 2015.
