MelOn Music Awards Confirms Second Lineup Of Performers Including Soyou & JungGiGo

On November 10, the producers for the MelOn Music Awards 2014 announced an additional set of artists that will be joining the performance lineup for this year's ceremony.

Last week, the online music chart revealed that six of their 'Top Ten' artists would perform live on stage for the November 13 event - BEAST, IU, SISTAR, Girl's Day, Winner, and Big Bang member Taeyang. Joining them on stage will be girl group A Pink as well as two chart-topping duos - Soyou & JungGiGo and Raina & San E.

A Pink's inclusion comes as no surprise to many excited fans. Not only is the popular girl group planning a comeback just days after the awards show, but 2014 proved to be very lucrative for the six members.

In January, A Pink celebrated their 1000th day anniversary with a commemorative single, "Good Morning Baby," and dropped their 4th EP, Pink Blossom, a few months later. The title track off of Pink Blossom, "Mr. Chu," topped the charts and earned the girls six music show wins, becoming the group's most successful single to date. In addition, A Pink launched their first sub-unit, A Pink BnN, comprised of members Bomi and Namjoo, and made their official debut in Japan with "NoNoNo."

SISTAR member Soyou teamed up with hip-hop singer JungGiGo in February to release one of the year's hottest songs, "Some." "Some" shot to number one on nine different music charts immediately following its release, and stayed in the top spot on Billboard's K-Pop Hot 100 for six weeks.

Soyou and JungGiGo's "Some" success launched a trend among other K-Pop stars who tried the girl group vocalist-male hip-hop star dynamic with similar results. Two of the MelOn Awards's other performers, After School's Raina and rapper San E are another such pair. A few months later, the duo saw similar chart success with their tune "A Midsummer Night's Sweetness."

Voting for this year's MelOn Music Awards top ten artists is currently underway and fans are encouraged to make their selections through the official site by November 12.

The MelOn Music Awards will be broadcast on November 13 through various MBC channels in Korea as well as live streamed through the 1theK YouTube channel.
