After the successful release of Christopher Nolan's sci-fi film in more than 3000 theaters, is there a possibility for Interstellar 2 to happen?

In an IGN video, the cast members were asked about what they want to see in the sequel of Interstellar. Matthew McConaughey who shared that he's still "wrestling with this enormous beast, and dancing with it and enjoying it" also said something about the chance for Interstellar 2 to happen. He said, "It's teed up for that possibilit... for life to carry on..."

Anne Hathaway who plays the role of Amelia and Jessica Chastain (Murph) also shared their thoughts about a sequel for Interstellar. Watch it on this page from IGN.

Interstellar was officially released in the US on November 7. According to Hollywood Reporter, as per the director's wishes, Interstellar "opened two days early in 250 theaters equipped to project in film, and Paramount is putting those grosses at $2.2 million."

According to the November 9 stats on Box Office Mojo, the science fiction space film already earned almost $50 million domestically. Meanwhile, its current foreign box office ticket sales now amount to almost $83 million making its worldwide earnings to reach $133 million.
