Some 19-Year-Old K-Pop Idols Take Korea's College Entrance Exam While Others Opt To Sit It Out

The Korean college entrance exam is held once a year and several eligible K-Pop idols are putting off their college education for the time being.

The 2014 Sooneung, College Scholastic Ability Test, will take place on November 13, and there are quite a few Korean idols who are third year high school students and are eligible to take the test. However, several Korean entertainment agencies have revealed that some of their employees are putting off college admissions in order to focus on their careers.

SM Entertainment revealed that rookie group Red Velvet's Joy is postponing college in order to focus on the group's promotions. AOA's Chanmi and Hello Venus' Yoereum are also opting out of the test.

A Cube Entertainment and TS Entertainment revealed that A Pink's Hayoung and B.A.P's Zelo will take the test. However, A Cube clarified that Hayoung thought the exam was important for her to experience as a Korean nineteen-year-old, while TS Entertainment said that Zelo will take the exam but has no immediate plans to attend university.

Youngjae of JYP Entertainment's group GOT7 will also sit for the exam.

YG Entertainment did not make it publicly known whether three of its artists will be taking the test. AKMU's Lee Chanhyuk, solo artist Lee Hi, and B.I of the soon-to-debut group iKON are all the right age to take the test.

The Sooneung is administered once annually, and all Korean students hoping to attend college in the country are required to take the exam.

B1A4 and rookie group HIGH4 released videos cheering on South Korea's test takers.
