Ladies Code Manager Driving The Night Of Fatal Accident Is Arrested, Polaris Entertainment Confirms

Polaris Entertainment revealed that Ladies' Code's manager, who was driving at the time of the fatal car accident that led to two member's deaths, has been arrested.

The Suwon District Public Prosecutor's Office confirmed on November 12 that Ladies' Code's Manager, known as Park, was arrested and an investigation is ongoing. Park has reportedly been charged with the death of EunB and RiSe, two members of Ladies' Code. His charges are also said to include injuring four others while speeding on a highway.

Ladies' Code's agency, Polaris Entertainment, confirmed the arrest and investigation in a statement to a Korean news outlet. "It is true that the manager who was driving Ladies' Code during the accident was arrested and charged," the agency's representative said. "Investigations are ongoing, and we believe that a custody investigation was chosen for this investigation due to the importance of the case. It is unfortunate and upsetting that this is the situation."

"Since the investigation is not yet done," the company's rep continued, "it is hard for us to make a formal statement on anything. We don't know when reports about the investigation will come out, but as this is someone close who we've worked with, someone like a family member, our hearts [at Polaris Entertainment] are in pain."

Park was driving the van the night of September 3 when the accident occurred on the Youngdong Highway in South Korea. Despite bad weather conditions and the speed limit 80 km per hour due to rain (it is usually 100 km but Korean traffic laws state that speed must be dropped 20 km in rain), Park was driving over 135 km per hour. The van hit a barrier.

Two members, Go EunB and Kwon RiSe, lost their lives, and fellow members Lee So Jung, Ashley, and Zuny, also were injured. Ashley and Zuny obtained minor injuries, while Lee So Jung needed surgery due to facial fracturing. An additional staff member, other than Park, was in the car and also obtained injuries.

Polaris Entertainment released a tribute video dedicated to Ladies' Code, for the group's song "I'm Fine Thank You." Following the accident, Korean music listeners brought the song to the number one of music charts to commemorate the lives of EunB and RiSe.
