Upcoming Windows Phones 2015: As Nokia Generation Ends, Will Microsoft Bring At Par Hardware Quality For New Lumias?

This year is a sad year for mobile fans who in their lifetime once had a Nokia handset. In previous reports, Nokia's mobile department is now rebranded by its owner, Microsoft, as Microsoft Lumia.

This simply means we won't be seeing any upcoming Windows phones for 2015 bearing the Nokia name, but instead Microsoft.

Last week, the firs ever Microsoft Lumia was announced, the Lumia 535, and it showed similar aesthetics and design which were praised in the Lumia lineup for years.

However, will Microsoft tread the same path in marketing its mobile devices? Or would the Redmond giant forge a new path that will distinguish itself from the Lumia's Nokia tradition?

For the past decade, the Nokia brand has been known as one of the finest phone makers when it comes to durability and built. From the 'smartphone-ish' E-series, N-series, etc., the Finnish brand has made a name for itself that its phones last for years, if not decades.

Acquiring Nokia was just the first step of Microsoft, and unlike Google who bought Motorola a couple of years back, the Redmond-based company do not have any plans of selling it in the future.

However, re-branding all of its Windows phone devices as coming Microsoft only and not Nokia-Microsoft may confuse a lot of people. And that's why changing some design and making some new aesthetic-related decisions here and there would help people distinguish between the two.

Microsoft has all the tools to do that, but will the market accept the new Lumia brand? We'll see this coming year.
