By Staff Writer | September 13, 2012 08:59 AM EDT
The leader and the maknae. TVXQ's solid rise to K-Pop superstardom would make anyone think that this powerful duo in Yunho and Changmin perhaps think alike to get along and overcome challenges together. In their recent interview with KpopStarz, it was revealed that they can actually be as different as night and day. This discovery makes them even more precious, especially when one realizes their only similarity -- a common goal.

One of their differences is in the way they perceive their growth as individuals. Perhaps due to his position as leader and his personality, Yunho shares that his dreams from the past aren't any different from his current ones. He said that "Nine years ago, I wanted to be on stage and do my best. Therefore, I'm able to be in this position." So, back then, his vision was only the stage. Changmin, on the other hand, admits that his perspectives, short of a decade ago, were different. "I dreamed of becoming a sports reporter or announcer. I didn't expect I would be here 9 years ago," he shared.
In terms of role models, Yunho shows his greater openness for the people from whom he draws inspiration. He considers Michael Jackson as an influence, saying "I want to become like Michael Jackson, who had an endless passion, and who gave dreams and hopes to others." This confirms Yunho's inclination to be more idealistic in his role models and also his desire to be an inspiration to others as well. Changmin, on the other hand, takes a more close-knit preference, looking up to those closer to him. When asked who his role models were, Changmin answered, "Our company's producer, Lee Soo Man, and company's composer, Yoo Young Jin. I admire their endless challenging mindset, while still maintaining their unique color."
TVXQ's unique tastes from each other manifests even in their choice of music. Yunho can get nostalgic and says "Recently, I've been listening to Babyface's first album. I think he's an awesome producer. I've been into old pop and old trends, so I've been listening to Babyface's first album," about what music he is currently listening to. Changmin stays current, however, hinting "Maroon 5's Pay Phone" as the track he is listening to.
But even with their differences, these two brothers-in-arms of TVXQ, share these in common: not knowing how to give up, valuing hard work, and the desire to give back to the fans who've always been appreciative of them through everything.
