John Woo New Movie: The Crossing, the New Epic Two-Part 3D Adventure Movie From John Woo, Hits China The first install installment of "The Crossing" from John Woo will hit China on Dec. 2. The Crossing Part 2 is scheduled for May 2015.

The Crossing reunites stars Takeshi Kaneshiro and Ziyi Zhang, who both starred in House of Flying Daggers in 2004. The Crossing also stars Song Hye-kyo, from "The Grandmaster," Huang Xiaoming from The White-Haired Witch of Lunar Kingdom and Tong Dawei from the film Red Cliff.

"I have always been a huge fan of IMAX, and I am thrilled to have an IMAX version of my film. The Crossing is set in a tumultuous period in recent Chinese history; and a lot of the spectacular scenes, like the two battle scenes and the sinking of the 'Taiping,' are shown to maximum effect on the IMAX screen," " said Woo.

The Crossing details the Chinese Revolution in the late 1940s. At the time many couples fled China, crossing the Taiwan Strait to Taiwan. In 1949, the sinking of the steamer "Taiping" led to the deaths of more than 1,500 passengers and crew.

IMAX says the two part 3D Film The Crossing from writer-director John Woo will be digitally re-mastered in the immersive IMAX 3D format and released in China.

John Woo's The Crossing will hit screens in two parts. The Crossing Part One will be released on Dec. 2. The second installment has been scheduled for May 2015.

The film was written by Woo, Su Chaopin and Chen Chinghui, with a script by Wang Hui-ling.

The Crossing was on location throughout mainland China, Inner Mongolia, Taipei and the south of Taiwan. The two films took 14 months to finish production.

The Crossing was produced by Lion Rock Productions and paid for by Galloping Horse, Le Vision, China Film Group and Huayi Brothers, four of the most influential movie studios in China.
