After years of waiting "Fast and Furious 7" star Vin Diesel is finally coming back in "xXx The Return of Xander Cage."

Following years of talk about the third installment to the franchise, the film is finally now becoming a reality. The news was confirmed by none other than Vin Diesel himself.

During his interview with Collider the famous action star revealed details about the planned project saying that, "I am going to do the next xXx which will be filming in part in the Philippines, which I'm very, very, very excited about," he revealed.

While the first movie was an instant hit in the box office when it came out on 2002, the sequel which was released in 2005 did not have Diesel in it hence, Ice Cube took over for the lead role with the movie titled "xXx: State of the Union."

The Final Chapter: The Death of Xander Cage was released as a DVD extra for the first film, explaining the switch in character.

However, come 2008 Diesel re-considered coming back for the franchise with a working title "xXx The Return of Xander Cage." The planned project came to halt, but in 2013 Diesel implied that the studio is planning to pursue with the project.

Earlier this year, "Fast and Furious" star claimed that a new plot is being written to pave way for the movie.

While "xXx The Return of Xander Cage" is still in its early stages, it is safe to assume that the movie is actually moving forward, noting that its lead actor is confident about the shooting location and a new storyline for the project.

Meanwhile, Vin Diesel also revealed on the same interview that he'll be starring in two new movies, "The Last Witch Hunter" and "Kojak."
