PSY's 'Gangnam Style' Closes on 200 Million Views
PSY had released "Gangnam Style" in July 15 with part 1 of his sixth album and the music video is currently very close to 200 million. This is a mere feat achieved in 64 days after the song's release.
It took 41 days until 50 million and then it reached 100 million 11 days after. Following this pattern, it's clear that the views are increasing exponentially as he begins to be more exposed to media around the world and especially in the US. It's possible that he would reach this 200 million mark in few days. This is the highest record for a Korean artist.
"Gangnam Style" recently took #64 on Billboard's Hot 100 chart, surpassing the Wonder Girls' record for "Nobody," in 2009. Psy is the second artist to enter the Hot 100.
Psy reached #1 on the iTunes singles chart on September 15, which is the first ever for a Korean song and Korean artist. He was also #1 on charts for Canada, Argentina, Netherlands, New Zealand, Lithuania, Paraguay, Peru, Slovakia and Hong Kong.
Psy is currently in the US to promote himself and his newfound fame.
