‘Roommate' Suffers Another Drop In Ratings After Time Slot Change

SBS variety show “Roommate” has witnessed a drastic drop in ratings since the show was moved from its Sunday afternoon time slot to Tuesday nights at 11 PM KST.

This week marked the first episode since the time slot change. The episode only received 3.3 percent of viewership versus 5.6 percent, which was recorded during its last week in the Sunday afternoon 4PM time slot.

The lineup change places “Roommate” opposite KBS’ variety show “Cool Kiz On The Block.” “Cool Kiz On The Block” delivered 4.2 percent in ratings.

The programming change for the variety show removes it from the “Good Sunday” lineup which also featured “Running Man.” “Roommate” was removed from the “Good Sunday” schedule due to the return of the musical competition program “K-Pop Star.”

Ratings have been an issue for “Roommate” since the show debuted in May 2014, following a broadcast delay due to the Sewol Ferry tragedy. From its launch, “Roommate” has continued to maintain interest from international fans with the show receiving English language translation through DramaFever and Hulu.

“Roommate” is in its second season following the departure of key season one cast mates which included 2NE1’s Park Bom and EXO’s Chan Yeol. While season two has benefited from the addition of Girls’ Generation member Sunny, GOT7’s Jackson, g.o.d member Park Joon Hyung, and comedienne Lee Guk Joo.
