Former model and successful restaurateur Barbara "B" Smith was found Wednesday in a Manhattan diner after being reported missing by her husband Dan Gasby on Tuesday. According to the NY Daily News, Smith, who is 65-years-old and suffers from Alzheimer's disease, was found at the La Parisienne Coffee House near 57^th Street.  

Besides being a restaurateur, Smith is known for being one of the first African-American models to grace the cover of Mademoiselle. She and Gasby were business partners, and in 1986 she opened her first restaurant in New York City. She later went on to open two more, the last of which closed in Washington last year after 20 years in business.

This past April, Smith and Gasby closed all of their restaurants, sold their Central Park West apartment for $6 million, and moved to Sag Harbor. This may have had something to do with Smith being recently diagnosed with Alzheimer's - earlier this year, she revealed her diagnosis to the public after years of symptoms such as memory loss and confusion. She stated, "I think the future's going to be fine... I'm going to do my best to make it work out for me and for as many people that I can possibly help, too."

Before Smith was found on Wednesday, Gasby told reporters that she was last seen at around 8pm Tuesday in Southampton. He stated, "She left the city on the Ambassador Jitney at 4:30 yesterday," an edge of panic in his voice. The NY Daily News reports that when Smith didn't return home to Sag Harbor, Gasby and his daughter tracked down the driver, who told them she had gotten off in Southampton. They then called the police.

Thankfully, Smith was recognized by someone at the La Parisienne diner, and has returned home safe and sound. However, it is not clear where Smith spent the night, or exactly what shape she was in after her ordeal.
