Mayor Calls for Review for Fired "Gangnam Style" Lifeguards

The mayor of El Monte has called for a review of the 13 lifeguards and their manager that were fired after wearing their city uniforms to film a "Gangnam Style" parody video.

Their parody, "Lifeguard Style" attracted much attention to their city. At a meeting, over 300 people asked that the City Council give back their jobs to the lifeguards.

However, the mayor did not want to make a decision quickly. They wanted to make sense of what happened so that this issue does not happen again.

However, over 12,000 signatures from all over the world were sent to the mayor to save the lifeguards' jobs.

The reaction to this is half and half. Some find it embarrassing that their city is gaining global attention due to this while the other half find this something worth getting attention for.

Council members did not budge. They decided that they would thoroughly review this case and focus on the guidelines it takes to hire and fire a staff member.
