Samsung Galaxy S3 specs, update: The Android 5.0 Lollipop, the latest mobile platform by Google, can be had by S3 owners via a firmware update. A forum post on XDA Developers show that an Android 5.0 Lollipop is available for the S3 model GT-19300. It credited the CyanogenMod and OminiROM for exynos graphic patches and AOSP-friendly device source tress, respectively. The unit is downloadable on the forum post with an explicit warning that the creator of the ROM will not be responsible for the phone bricking because of the installation.

It noted the working list of the Android 5.0 Lollipop that the boot and semi-graphics acceleration is functional, while a long list of non-working items are also disclosed. It noted that the following as not working:

Radio
Camera
Sensors
Internal & external Storage
Wi-Fi
GPS
Graphics including color calibration and hwcomposer
Screen-off (cannot enter sleep)

Below are the instructions for the installation of the Android 5.0 Lollipop ROM as noted in the forum post:

1. Install PhilZ Touch recovery
2. Extract the downloaded ZIP file and put the ROM back-up on /sdcard/clockworkmod/backup
3. Enter recovery
4. Perform a full data wipe(except you're running previous versions of this ROM)
5. Restore back-up
6. Flash kernel

Prospective users of the ROM must be warned that this is a very technical process and know how in your gadgest is a must.

Announced in May 3, 2012 and officially made available 19 days after, the Samsung Galaxy S3 came with Android 4.0.4 out of the box and has an official update up to Android 4.3 Jelly Bean.

The handset sports a 4.8-inch Super AMOLED display with 720 x 1280 pixels and an astonishing 306 ppi for pixel density. It has an 8MP primary camera and a 1.9 MP front-facing snapper for selfies. Under the hood, the device has a quad-core Samsung Exynos 4 processor powered with 1 GB of RAM and begins with 32GB of storage (expandable up to 64 GB).
