BBC Radio Translates 'Gangnam Style'

BBC Radio 1 'Scott Mills Daily' translated the lyrics of "Gangnam Style."

Instead of the fun and electronic rhythms of the actual song, they recited the translated English lyrics with classical music in the background, creating a very interesting mood.

'Scott Mills Daily' held an exclusive corner for this particular stint and they had translated everything except for 'oppa,' and the DJ read everything incredibly seriously, and the panel had a very hard time containing their laughter.

This is obviously partly due to the popularity of the music video for "Gangnam Style" which had no difficulty in reaching every corner of the world. Psy was not meaning to have "Gangnam Style" be so popular around the world and had never aimed to go international with the song. However, many listeners who didn't speak English had no idea what the lyrics meant.

That day, Psy actually had an interview with DJ Scott Mills over the phone and Psy kept talking about how surprising it was that his song became so popular.

After the phone call, Scott Mills continued to praise 'Gangnam Style,' saying, "It's a very appealing song and whatever country you go to, you can hear this song. I'm a big fan!"
