More Solo Artists From SM Entertainment In 2015

SM Entertainment is planning on releasing more solo artists in 2015.

After successful solo debuts from Super Junior's Kyuhyun, Super Junior M's Henry and Zhoumi, and SHINee's Taemin, SM Entertainment will continue the trend of debuting solo artists in 2015. SM Entertainment announced that f(x) rapper Amber is planning her solo debut, but has not confirmed any further solo projects.

In 2013, SM Entertainment debuted its first male solo artist in several years, Super Junior M member Henry. SHINee's Taemin, Super Junior M's Zhoumi, and Super Junior's Henry all made successful debuts as solo artists in 2014.

SM Entertainment will continue the trend of taking popular singers from their idol groups and promoting them as solo artists in 2015. Along with Amber's solo debut, SM Entertainment has hinted to another popular idol going solo.

It is unknown whether SM Entertainment will introduce new singers.

K-Pop has recently seen an uptick in solo singers, collaborations, and duo group, as well as entertainment companies reaching into their most popular groups for new acts rather than debuting new singers.

YG Entertainment has released several collaboration projects, including members of Big Bang, AKMU, and solo artists, and JYP had Sunmi and HA:TFELT debut as solo artists, both of whom were original members of now on-hiatus Wonder Girls.

Amber will be the first female solo artist at SM Entertainment to debut in three years.  All four of SM's recently debuted solo artists have been male, and the last female solo artist was CSJH The Grace member Stephanie's debut in 2012. The last non-idol group solo artist that SM Entertainment debuted was female singer J-Min in 2007.

SM Entertainment also announced that popular male idol group EXO will be making a comeback in 2015. The date has not yet been announced. This will be the first time that EXO has a comeback since two members of the group filed lawsuits against SM Entertainment.
