Nexus 6 Review, Update: Specs Of New Android 5.0 Lollipop Powered Flagship Incl. 6-inch QHD Display, Quad-core Snapdragon 805 Processor; An Impressive Handset

Nexus 6 review, update: The Nexus 6 is here and it seems that Google has done it right again, coming from the heels of a successful Nexus 5 run. The handset, powered by the latest Google mobile platform, Android 5.0 Lollipop, also sports an impressive 6-inch QHD display and a quad-core Snapdragon 805 processor.

"Nexus 6 proves that Google's Nexus program is not only far from dead, it's alive and kicking with a powerful 6-inch phablet that runs its latest Android software,” Tech Radar wrote about the new Google flagship.

Specs the Android Lollipop-powered Nexus 6 include a 6-inch QHD AMOLED display, 3220 mAh battery, and a 13MP primary camera with Optical Image Stabilization. The Motorola-made Google flagship has a Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 processor under the hood that clocks in at 2.7Ghz and has a 32GB and 64GB internal storage.

CNET noted that the Nexus 6 signals the entrance of Google to the phablet market, comparing, as the unit is larger than Apple’s 5.5-inch iPhone 6 Plus and Samsung’s 5.7-inch Samsung Galaxy Note 4.

One of the highlights of the Nexus 6 is its new Sony IMX214 image sensor, which has a lens with a wide, f/2.0 aperture and dual LED flash and a ring. The official Nexus 6 micro site touts this camera spec under the heading, “More epic shots,” where it describes the handset’s snapper.

“An f2.0 lens and 13 megapixel camera with optical image stabilization capture great photos in daylight and low light. Using advanced computational photography technology and HDR+, the pre-installed Google Camera does the heavy lifting so you can effortlessly take great photos.”

Aside from the Nexus 6, the company also announced an Android TV device called Nexus Player, which is expected to compete with the likes of Roku, Amazon Fire TV, and Apple TV. The company also launched the Nexus 9 tablet, which sports a “magnetically attached, fully-responsive keyboard.”

Unlike other smartphone releases where the preceding model is either soldout for an extended period of time, the Nexus 6 was launched with the Nexus 5 still available and for sale.

The official Google Nexus microsite offers the Nexus 5, Nexus 6, Nexus 9, and the Android TV, Nexus Player.
