Body Exposure To Be Limited For Underage Girl Groups

The Korea Communications Standards Commission will pursue the limiting of bodily exposure for underage artists that will perform on the air starting on the 25th. If the limitations get to be passed, it seems they will begin to start cracking down on the outfits that some underage girl groups wear on stage and on the air.

The KOCSC announced the their intent to pursue the new legislation that will limit the explicit material that will be put on their air as well as exposure from teenagers and underage girls, in particular. The new law states, "Television broadcast must not show explicit material or underage performers wearing exposing outfits." They will make sure that they evaluate programs based on these criteria.

For the programs who do not abide by the limitations, they will be given levels of warnings that can go up to the suspension of the program and the head producer. Last August, they had caused a lot of commotion around the fact that they warned singer HyunA for her dancing. They claimed that her dances were too explicit and suggestive for teenagers.

They will strengthen the controls on sexual expressions on widely broadcast programs and suggestive performances by underage performers. Language may also be limited on programs that are targeted toward children and teenagers.

They claimed that many media outlets were too focused on ratings and many of what they were reporting or putting on their air was too sensationalist or too suggestive and explicit. They are to ensure that they do not risk infringement on rights by performers.

They will keep working on the legislation with suggestions from many committees and organizations led by professionals from the industry and other rights groups.
