January is turning out to be an exciting month for follow up seasons of anime. The next anime to receive a second season next month is the popular shojo manga featuring a teenage goddess and the fox demon that helps her with her new powers.

Well, he helps her whenever he's not scolding her.

Today it was finally announced that season two of "Kamisama Kiss" will air starting January 9th. Although Funimation has yet to confirm a simulcast, the company is likely to license the second season since they simulcast the first season.

Earlier this year Anime News Network interviewed Funimation staff member Michelle Lee about the Goddess Special Edition of "Kamisama Kiss" released for North America.

"‘Kamisama Kiss' was our number one simulcast for the fall 2012 season," explained Lee. "It broke all previous simulcast records up to that time, and for us, simulcast numbers are our best indicator for a show's popularity and so we use that to determine what kind of release something should get."

Based on this information, it only makes sense that Funimation would want to continue to serve the fans of "Kamisama Kiss" by simulcasting season 2 at the same time it airs in Japan.

For those unfamiliar with "Kamisama Kiss," Anime News Network describes the series as follows: "The story of Julietta Suzuki's original manga begins with Nanami, a girl who finds herself homeless after her father leaves. She comes to the home of a man who offers to let her stay over - only to discover it is a Shinto shrine. The man happened to be a deity who has just transferred his status and his yōkai to Nanami. That yōkai's name is Tomoe, and a contract between him and Nanami can only be sealed in one way: with a kiss."

The original cast and crew will be returning for "Kamisama Kiss" season two, including director Akitaro Daichi and character designer Junko Yamanaka. Fans can check out the trailer for "Kamisama Kiss" Season two below.
