Punk Rope, Aerial Yoga And Other Fitness Trends To Try For 2015

The year 2014 is about to end and a lot of people are already preparing their New Year's resolutions, particularly including physical fitness and good health in their objectives for the next year. Here are some of the most talked about 2015 fitness trends.

1. Bodyweight training

Bodyweight training or plyometrics are at No. 1 among the 2015 fitness trends, based on a report by Yahoo! People like the idea of increasing their strength and boosting their conditioning by using their own bodyweight as resistance instead of gym weights. This way, you can work out anytime and anywhere.

2. HIIT

HIIT stands for high-intensity interval training, which involves alternating low, moderate and high intensities during workout to maximize fat burn and calorie loss. HIIT is very effective for people with busy schedules because it lasts only 20 minutes or less but results to more fat burn than conventional cardio. The American College of Sports Medicine found in a study that HIIT burns more calories than doing low intensity cardio for a longer period of time. It also helps maintain muscle mass while burning fat.

3. Punk rope

The Guardian reported that punk rope is a fun and excellent way to stay fit and burn calories. Tim Haft, creator of punk rope, said that classes can burn 600 calories every hour. The sessions are also interactive, complete with a theme and background music. You can even wear a costume for classes to match the theme and enjoy working out more.

4. Aerial yoga

The fitness approach involves the use of a yoga swing or a cloth suspended from the ceiling. It is a combination of aerial arts and yoga, hence the name. people can try various positions, flips and stretching exercises while suspended on the swing to improve core strength and burn fat in a fun way. Best Health Magazine also wrote that anti-gravity yoga is better on the back and in improving flexibility compared to traditional aerobics and fitness workouts.

5. Hot barre

The approach involves doing ballet moves in a 40-degree heated room. Hot barre provides a deeper stretch compared to Bikram yoga. Based on the same report by The Guardian, the hot room also encourages detoxification, which will ultimately get rid of stress and boosts the immune system. It is a relaxing way to unwind and treat your muscles for only a few minutes each week.
