5 K-Pop Web Videos You Should Stream Right Now

There is a lot of great viral K-Pop content out on the internet these days.  Here are give videos you should stream write now if you haven't already seen them.

What's Eating Steven Yeun? from Be Funny Studios

This is a wild three-episode ride that chronicles Walking Dead star Steven Yeun's extraordinarily dramatic (fictional) rise, fall, and attempt at redemption as he navigates the heady world of South Korean fame. He, 2NE1's Sandara Park, and Park Hyuk Kwan deliver A+ performances as Yeun enters the world of mokbangs, or "broadcast eating" that are going viral in Korea. On top of being well produced and genuinely funny, it's full of references like Fan Death and "one plus one equals gyiyomi" that will make K-Pop fans chuckle. Be Funny Studios has a couple other hit videos (like the one with Anna Kendrick & f(x)), but this is by far their best work.

JuNCurryAhn

Anyone who thinks the violin isn't cool needs to watch these videos. JuNCurryAhn masterfully covers K-Pop hits, giving songs like "Growl," "Ugly," and "Bad Boy" an entirely new and dynamic feel. He's also got covers from everything from "My Heart Will Go On" to Taylor Swift on his channel, so you can share his videos even with your non-K-Pop fan friends, too.

MisterPopoTV

This list wouldn't be complete without a nod to Mister Popo. His videos started out as mostly reaction videos to K-Pop's latest hits; as he's grown in followers and knowledge about the K-Pop world his channel has expanded. It now includes his take on several Korean current events as well as often hilarious videos that introduce strangers to K-Pop. Kermit the Frog even gets a few memorable cameos! Check out our exclusive interview for more information about what Mister Popo is up to, then get yourself over to his YouTube channel.

Sweet and Tasty TV

This is technically one woman taking you on a journey through major Korean landmarks, language lessons, and parodies of K-Pop hits. But the one woman bounces between hilarious characters including an uninterested Korean boyfriend, a fiery grandma, and an over-the-top K-Pop crooner. The videos most worth checking out are the language lessons, commonly filed under "KWOW," or Korean Word of the Day. She covers the basics, but also highlights a lot of slang and idioms that are commonly used in K-Pop and K-Dramas. (Babo, Mullayo, and aegyo, for instance.) It's incredible how much even learning a handful of these colloquialisms can enhance watching or listening to Korean entertainment. Get your fill on the archives of these videos before the new fourth season comes soon.

Maangchi

A lot of people unfamiliar with the cuisine think it's too complex, spicy, or even strange to attempt to cook themselves. This fantastic web series and blog dismantles most of those perceptions. After just a few of these videos and recipes you'll probably feel comfortable enough to try out some of your own Korean cooking. At the very least, it'll be easier to recognize food that your favorite stars chow down on. Pro tip: make sure you have some snacks on hand if you're spending time watching these videos. If not, hunger's going to get the best of you as you're drooling over this delicious-looking food.
