Hikaru Utada New Music Video for ‘Beautiful World’ Gets Evangelion Treatment; Ayumi Hamasaki Leads Utada Hikaru Tribute Album [VIDEO]

Hikaru Utada released the new music video for her upcoming album and it was directed by Kazuya Tsurumaki of the popular anime Evangelion.

To get ready for Utada's 15th anniversary album, the J-pop singer released a special "Neon Genesis Evangelion" version of "Beautiful World." The new music video was directed by Kazuya Tsurumaki, the co-director of the Evangelion.

The new "Beautiful" music video was released on Utada's YouTube channel. The song is set to scenes spliced together from all three Evangelion movies.

Beautiful World' was the ending theme for 2007's Evangelion: 1.0 You Are (Not) Alone. Evangelion: 2.0 You Can (Not) Advance used an acoustic version of the song as its theme. Utada burst onto the international music scene with her song "Beautiful." The ending theme for Evangelion: 3.0 You Can (Not) Redo was Utada's "Sakura Nagashi."

A cover album of Hikaru Utada songs will drop this week. The album will be called Utada Hikaru no Uta or Hikaru Utada's Songs. The new cover album Utada Hikaru no Uta will features 13 of Utada's songs performed by 13 different artists. The album will feature Ringo Sheena, Ayumi Hamasaki, Love Psychedelico, KIRINJI, tofubeats with Bonnie Pink and other artists putting their spin on the Japanese American artist's songs.

The illustrations for the album will be done by famous artists.

Utada will release cover album Utada Hikaru no Uta on December 9th. Eight of the tracks are available to stream on her official YouTube channel now.
