This past Sunday, Prince William and Princess Kate Middleton arrived in the Big Apple - New York City! According to People Magazine, the royal couple arrived on a British Airways flight that arrived at John F. Kennedy International Airport in Queens. They were then whisked away to Manhattan, where they will be staying at The Carlyle, a luxury hotel.

New York has been dying to host the duo, and the Empire State Building was lit up in red, white, and blue in honor of their arrival. A Union Jack flag was also hoisted over the main entrance of The Carlyle next to an American flag. Many people flocked to the entrance of the Carlyle in hopes of glimpsing the royals - James Barden, 25, of Harlem, stated, "I just want to welcome them to New York... It's really exciting to see them. I hope they look my way."

There were many fans of Princess Kate in particular, too. Stephanie Ryan, 25, of Boston, stated, "[Kate] is a role model... She never looks nervous or scared... She always looks confident, plus she married a prince. If she looks my way and waves, that will make my day."

People Magazine reports that William and Kate have a lot in store for them - William will soon be heading to D.C. where he will meet President Obama, who has recently underlined his support for the prince's campaign against illegal wildlife trade. 

Kate, on the other hand, will spend most of her time in New York. She currently plans to spend her time this Monday visiting a child development center in Harlem with the city's first lady Chirlane McCray. 

However, there is definitely fun involved - the couple plans to spend Monday evening watching basketball together at the Barclays Center, where the Brooklyn Nets will be playing the Cleveland Cavaliers. To add a cherry on top of their special evening, the NBA has signed on as a supporter of William's United for Wildlife campaign.
