Ready Player One Movie: Christopher Nolan Gets Offer To Take Helm In Film Adaptation Of Ernest Cline Bestseller

"Ready Player One" is set to launch in movie theatres soon and Christopher Nolan was among those offered to take on the role of director. But the famous director reportedly has yet accepted the job.

According to Cinema Blend, the "Ready Player One" movie is based on the New York Times best-selling novel with the same title by Ernest Cline. Zak Penn reportedly wrote the screenplay, which was approved by Cline.

The screenplay promises to be a film that fans will truly appreciate. Donald De Line will act as producer through De Line Pictures, together with Dan Farah.

In a report by Tracking Board, Warner Bros. officially offered Batman director Christopher Nolan to direct the upcoming "Ready Player One" movie.

"Ready Player One" is about a teenager, who gets involved in a treasure hunt to acquire the fortune left behind in the will of the maker of his favorite virtual reality game. He later on faces powerful enemies, who also intends to get the big fortune.

AintItCool.com reported that aside from Christopher Nolan, other directors were also contacted by Warner Brothers to possibly take the jelm of the film. Included in the options were Edgar Wright, Matthew Vaughn, Peter Jackson and Robert Zemeckis.

Reportedly, Zemeckis was the ideal choice for Warner Brothers. Zemeckis' work is heavily referenced in the book, which could imply that his ideas are in line with Cline's -- a good formula for the purists who may want to preserve more of what the book is all about.

Nolan, on the other hand, has just finished "Interstellar". He has established a solid reputation in the industry through the "Dark Night" trilogy and "Inception".

With blockbuster movies up his sleeves, Christopher Nolan is believed to have the experience and vision to realize the work of Penn and Cline.

However, based on the same report by Cinema Blend, it was noted: "If Nolan adds his trademark brooding to the movie, he could lose part of what makes this book so special."

The protagonist, Wade Watts, also known as Parzival, is an awkward and geeky teenager, which is quite different from the dark characters of the director's past movies. Christopher Nolan has to make some adjustments to strike the balance between serious and goofiness.

Ultimately, Zemeckis or Nolan will be great choices for the "Ready Player One" movie.
