'Transformers 5' Release Date Scheduled With New Director On Board? Bruce Willis & Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson To Replace Mark Wahlberg?

It's no secret that there would be a "Transformers 5" movie and according to previous reports the release date is already set sometime on 2016.

However, rumors about Michael Bay not coming back to direct "Age Of Extinction's" sequel soon sparked when the producer/director made a statement to media that he is ready to hand over the directorial responsibilities soon after he is done filming the film.

"There's a lot that's unexplored, but that's for the next director to figure out." He added "they're hard movies to do and it takes every day for two years. They're fun, but they're hard," as reported by Indie Wire.

He even told USA Today that he's ready to pass on the future "Transformers" movie to another director to make way for other plans.

"There's kind of a new chapter, a new direction in movies I want to make," Bay admitted, who is currently looking into working in a documentary about elephant poaching. "I have a lot of stories to tell. And it's about flexing new muscles."

While, Bay haven't formally left the franchise, speculations as to who will take over his role as director emerges, Jonathan Liebesman, the director of the highly successful "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" movie, which was produced by Bay is said to be the first choice.

Meanwhile, Mark Wahlberg the human lead star in "Transformer: Age of Extinction" is also rumored to leave the franchise.

Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson and Bruce Willis will allegedly replace Wahlberg as the new human lead together with the rest of autobots in the upcoming "Transformers 5" movie.

Producers Ian Bryce and Lorenzo di Bonventura seemed to accept the idea of a "G.I. Joe" and "Transformers" crossover, as reported by Fashion Style.

"I don't think they run out of stories yet. I think later on that's a possibility but I don't think in the near future at all. It's not something we talked about either. You know, there's a lot more story to be told in both cases," Bonaventura told.

"I think if in some moment we all think, 'You know what, it's time to bring the two of them together' then we'll do that, but I think they're strong enough to exist on their own," he added.

Nothing is final though, probably except for "Transformers 5" release date.

Would you want to see Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson and Bruce Willis in the continuation of the robot-themed franchise?
